"A Step Back"
This painting has many layers to it. The clouds, to the forest, to the buildings, to the tree, and then the foreground. This painting uses color to put emphasis on the tree and the man at the bottom. I used acrylic paint to create this piece. The message it was meant to convey is that sometimes in our busy lives we need to escape from all the noise and take a breather. With this painting I wanted to use colors more effectively and add detail with those colors. This painting came out great. I learned how to make my colors look more realistic and at texture and detail with said colors.

"Smoky Desert"
This piece was an attempt to make something out of random streaks of soot from a candle. In this piece I tried to stretch my creative thinking to fit what I saw on the paper. I used a pen to put what I saw. It has wispy clouds in the background accompanied with mountains and dunes, Then a monster and his flame in the foreground. This was a fun experiment and I thought it turned out ok.

"Requirements To Shine"
This painting is really colorful. From red, to orange to yellow, to green, and finally blue and purple. It uses color to put emphasis on the tree in the middle, showing it grows on top of more dead looking saplings. I used ink and water colors to make this piece. The message that this art work is meant to convey is that to shine and be successful you have to grow and stand on top of competitors. I wanted to learn how to create loose but clean designs that make sense to the eye. This was done in this painting and I think it came out great.

"Scrambled Thoughts"
This is an experiment with paper marbling. I wanted to make the colors be wacky and without order, then I tried to use watercolors to paint what I saw in the smear of colors. The background looked scramble so I wanted to make something about scrambled thoughts and being confused.

"Vast"
This Painting is very open. The focal point being the lighting, then the ocean and clouds move you across the painting and show you the house on a hill. Vast is meant to tell the viewer of a vast scary world and your safe place is your home. I used acrylic paint to create this piece. With this piece I wanted to experiment with more deep vibrant colors and more complex natural environment like waves.

"Pieces of Gold"
This is an experiment for "Nothing But a Canvas" and for this challenge I chose a denim jacket. With acrylic paint I made a golden heart. The painting is about someone wearing their heart on their sleeves. A heart of gold who cares way too much. In the end they got their heart broken. Hence why the heart is in pieces. I really like this piece, but I think I could have done better on the shading.

"Controlled Chaos"
The painting was an experiment in water colors. I used many techniques like dry brush, glaze, and gradient wash. Then I loosely sketched it out with a sharpie. With this I wanted to capture the energy of a flame, then used a sharpie to illustrate how chaotic a flame can be. I think it turned out great and it was a lot of fun to create.

"Safe Space"
This painting was created with watercolors and a sharpie fine point pen. The watercolors are used to bring life to the fox, bird, and a square box behind them. The color of the creatures create contrast between the black and white background. This painting is to show someones safe space. when the world is looking colorless and bleak, you should return to you safe space and bring back color to your life.

"Horizon Discovery"
This painting was an experiment with cubism. It was made with acrylic paint. I created contrast with the warm colored hair and cool colored background. The cubic breaks bring your eye to the telescope and through to the sky. I wanted to represent a person going through personal change. The boy in the image is taking on the color of the environment that starts from the telescope, which represents change. I wanted to show someone growing and changing through discovery.
